Game Day Eats

Our favorite times in the fall and winter is being together with our kids and watching football on the weekends. We are so sad there is only one more NFL game on!! I like to be prepared for any drop-ins by family, friends of my kids or friends of Jeff and I. Besides the typical game day snacks, I love having easy food out on my kitchen island that people can just grab when they feel like something a bit more hearty.

Chili is the perfect thing on a cold day to warm your tummy, but also something pretty universally satisfying for anyone who stops by. I have a million chili recipes that I gravitate to, because I really love them all, but this weekend I decided to go with a recipe that has no beans and mild spice. (My kids aren’t huge bean fans and are just getting into a variety of spices…nothing too crazy yet!)

I opened up one of my new favorite cookbooks Simply Keto and got my slow cooker ready for this yummy Keto chili. I made it the night before, so all the flavors would come together and be ready for the weekend. To serve, I used my favorite barrel top wood lazy susan from Pottery Barn. It’s a pretty generous size so I could center the chili in my new Staub cast iron dutch oven and surround it with tiny bowls filled with all the toppings, chips and these delicious and easy homemade cornbread muffins from the blog Pinch Me I’m Eating. It makes it fun for everyone to spin around the board and pick whatever toppings they prefer. I plan on using the lazy susan for other fun ideas like tacos, a breakfast board, wine/cheese and more…so stay tuned! 🙂

Chili toppings:

  • Sour Cream
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Avacado
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Green Onions
  • Sliced Jalapenos
  • Corn chips
